Great Britain City and Country Tour
London, Edinburgh, and the Scottish Highlands
10 days
Great Britain’s two most-visited cities are among the focuses of this tour, but aside from several days exploring these urban areas, this wonderful trip also highlights some of G.B.’s other side, namely the beautiful Scottish Highlands, where guests can enjoy not only stunning scenery but also plenty of outdoor fun and other active pursuits.
Begin with 3 nights in the vibrant capital city of London where you’ll have the opportunity to visit all the sights every first-time visitor should see. Take a ride on The London Eye for a great view of the city, night or day. Snap some photos of Buckingham Palace and the famous Beefeater guards. Tour Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London and use your leisure time to visit such excellent museums as the British Museum, the Tate, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Head to London’s many interesting neighborhoods to explore the culture of this eclectic city, truly an international melting pot. In addition, you’ll be treated to an additional excursion to the outskirts of London, where you and your traveling companions can visit such notable sites as Stonehenge, Bath, Greenwich, and Oxford.
Next it’s on to Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. Stay for 2 nights in one of the city’s finest hotels and embark on a guided tour of Edinburgh’s most famous sites including majestic Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Scottish National Gallery, the Royal Botanic Garden, and the National Museum of Scotland. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the UNESCO-lauded Old Town, the city’s oldest neighborhood, featuring medieval-era buildings, historical attractions, pubs, and delightful stores selling wool items and other local wares. Or how about a fun whiskey tour including your chance to sample some of Scotland’s finest?
Upon leaving Edinburgh, you’ll travel north to the southern portion of the Scottish Highlands, a place where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. This area of the country includes the city of Perthshire, dubbed the adventure capital of Scotland. Here, you can play a few rounds of golf, enjoy a bicycle tour, fish with your traveling companions, stroll along forest trails, or even go canyoning. Consider a side trip to Glasgow or perhaps an excursion to St. Andrew’s, where you can play golf where the game was invented.
